NEWS RELEASE AGGREGATOR LAUNCHED: THE END OF SPAM?

The press release distribution company RealWire has developed a new application, PRFilter, to provide a source of aggregated press releases for journalists, editors and bloggers.

The beta version of PRFilter ranks the relevance of press releases to a user based on a profile, generated from their own or their publication’s articles, of their interests; users can then filter results further by date, location and topic, and provide feedback for further accuracy.

RealWire developed the service as a separate application from their own offering, though they will be incorporating the predictive technology into their existing distribution service as well.

PRFilter has been initially targeted at technology related media, and so tested over the past fortnight by a group of UK-based technology focused journalists. Andrew Lim, the founder of PR and journalist community UKTJPR and editorial director at Recombu, called the application “a fantastic way to manage press releases and find interesting stories.”

RealWire chief executive Adam Parker also pointed out the potential advantages of PRFilter for PR professionals as well as journalists. “PRs will benefit from knowing that when their press release is indexed by PRFilter it is more likely to be read by genuinely interested journalists and bloggers, and not get lost.”
