WHAT DOES DIGITAL IMPACT MEAN FOR MADE BY GIANTS?

Dani Montgomery, lead digital consultant at Made By Giants, explores what it means to create digital impact and why it is synonymous with achieving giant results.

For us, making a digital impact means GIANT results. Forget vanity stats. It’s hitting tough KPIs. Making a real difference to our client partners’ business. And GIANT results means going way beyond expectations. It’s about our client partners saying to us “wow this is impressive” and seeing a GIANT bang for their bucks. 

We’ve had a fair bit of experience creating digital impact. Alright, that’s modest, we’ve had a LOT. That’s because we don’t believe in vanity metrics - forget driving followers, forget millions of impressions. These are not the be-all and end-all. Why? For us, creating meaningful digital impact is all about cultivating and nurturing real relationships and building a sustainable, engaged community. We work hard to seek out the movers and the shakers who will ultimately take real actions. And by the way, if you focus on this, the followers... will follow (pun fully intended). 

Don’t just take our word for it, we’ve got some work to share that will show we know exactly what we are talking about. Two very different briefs, both driving REAL digital impact.

First we have atoti; a free Python BI analytics platform. Our task was GIANT: name and create a new, friendly data science product brand and connect it to our client’s masterbrand. From there, we had to design a digital engagement strategy for this new brand on organic social, paid social and influencer marketing – building an entirely new community from scratch successfully. Notice the deliberate nod to our other Giant abilities? Alright, let’s focus on the digital element for now! 

We knew our audience was made up of Data Scientists, so we needed to tap into the close knit community by gaining their trust. As a group, they are notoriously opposed to interacting with brands; they have their wits about them and you can’t sell them what they don’t want. With clever content geared towards helping the community, partnering with influencers who LOVED atoti and a smart paid strategy, we became part of the community. See, focusing on creating meaningful social relationships pays off in the long run.  

Long story short, our efforts have moved atoti from zero awareness this time last year, to over 5,300 followers across LinkedIn and Twitter, resulting in OVER 18,000 installations. In June alone, one influencer activation drove an additional 10,000 visits to the atoti website. 

GIANT digital impact? Absolutely.

There’s plenty more where that came from at Made By Giants. Another of our partners, etika, also benefited from some of our GIANT digital impact. As an ethical financial lender, etika came to us with a clear brief - help us get big bucket sales-qualified leads, and get at least three per month starting NOW. 

Well within six days - yes that’s right SIX DAYS, we got them a qualified lead worth £2.5 million!

This campaign is a real love story between a catchy creative hook, clever content, properly thought through targeting and succinct paid media - in the form of LinkedIn Sponsored Messaging ads. A match made in heaven engagement. First we ran an awareness campaign via LinkedIn, gaining valuable insight into our audience - who are most likely to take action when we speak to them. Using that insight meant we knew who we were talking to and everything we created was tailored to them to ensure maximum engagement and real results - from the campaign messaging to the specific job roles we’d target. We call it hyper-targeting. Doubling down on quality prospects to drive maximum leads. It’s all pretty clever, and it drives real results for their business. etika got what they asked for, and more.
