NICOLA GREEN APPOINTED TO PROPOSED EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM FOR VIRGIN MEDIA-O2

Nicola Green has been appointed chief communications and corporate affairs officer on the proposed Executive Leadership Team for Virgin Media-O2.

Green was appointed as corporate affairs director at Telefonica UK Limited, otherwise known as O2, in 2016. She became a member of the Executive team in June 2019, working directly with the CEO and offering strategic counsel to the Executive team.

“Bringing communications and corporate affairs to the leadership team of any business is a testament to everyone in our industry. That’s why I’m so proud to have accepted the role of chief communications and corporate affairs officer on the executive committee for the proposed merger of O2 and Virgin Media in the UK,” says Green.

At O2, Green is responsible for public affairs, corporate responsibility and sustainability, internal and external comms after joining as head of media in 2003. During her time leading the comms team at O2, the company achieved the highest corporate reputation in the sector.

“The deal is still with the regulator for clearance so nothing changes today; however, I’m looking forward to working to championing the UK's new Connectivity Champion and to building its reputation as a business with integrity,” adds Green.

The appointment is a major communications and corporate affairs appointment and testament to the value of having a comms person directly involved in decisions at board level.
