UK RULES THE WAVES OF ONLINE REPORTING

According to new research from European online reporting specialists, Nexxar, the UK is now at the forefront of online corporate reporting, with 64% of the FTSE100 producing full HTML reports.

Only Austria seemed to embrace the online annual report more, with 65% of the ATX20 producing a full HTML document. Germany, previously the undisputed champion of online reporting slipped into third place.

The ultimate winner, however, seems to be the investment community, as nearly 50% of large cap companies from around the world are now seen to be producing full HTML annual reports.

The research took place during July and August and looked at the online annual reports from 400 companies.  Apart from a few countries, such as Switzerland and the Netherlands, the overall trend over the past few years is one of migration to an HTML platform. Nexxar’s CEO Thomas Rosenmayr commented, “The most surprising outcome this year is that, in a time of financial crisis, the continuing trend is still towards HTML implementation. This underpins the increasing importance of the internet for corporate reporting. It also looks as if a flight to quality in times of crisis not only happens on stock markets."
