CITY UNIVERSITY TO CREATE FIRST MA IN FINANCIAL JOURNALISM

City University London have poached Steve Schifferes, Online Economics Correspondent of the BBC, to create a new MA programme in financial journalism, the first of its kind in the UK.

City has long been regarded as one of the leading universities for journalism in the world. In the past year it spent £12m on new facilities, including a television and video programming studio, four radio studios, four audio-visual newsrooms, and four digital newsrooms. Former Mirror editor Roy Greenslade, The Guardian's David Leigh and award-winning broadcast journalist Penny Marshall are all included amongst the teaching staff.

City University already teach a number of modules on financial journalism, including one taught by BoardAgenda’s editor Donald Nordberg as part of their Global Journalism Masters degree. City’s Head of Journalism, Professor Adrian Monck, said: “We believe the restructuring of the world economy will be the next decade’s biggest story and we intend to be at its forefront.”
