SOCIAL MEDIA SITE LAUNCHING FOR NOT-FOR-PROFITS
A new microsite is launching to highlight best practice social media case studies aimed at helping not-for-profit organisations utilise social media communication tools.
Social Charity goes live at the end of September and has been developed by The Socialistas, themselves a not-for-profit organisation established by five Bournemouth University Media School alumni dedicated to encourage greater social media use. The Socialistas aim to establish a portal for not-for-profit organisations to share their experiences and ideas on how they are using social media to engage their different audiences.
The microsite has been trailed in advance of its launch by a new twitter account, @social_charity, which has already attracted 80 followers, including JustGiving, Oxfam and Scope.
Anna Svensson, one of the founders of The Socialistas, said, “Social does not merely mean maintaining a Twitter presence or launching a Facebook page. It’s about listening and having a conversation. We want to hear about new campaigns and ideas NFPs are using to converse with their audiences.”
Social Charity launches on Monday with a profile of Ben Mathews, founder of Bright One Communications, a volunteer-run communications agency that makes public relations possible for third sector organisations who can’t afford a commercial agency. It can be found at www.thesocialistas.com.
