CIPR EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2018 SHORTLIST ANNOUNCED

Leading trade body for the communications and public relations industry, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), has released the shortlist for its annual CIPR Excellence Awards.

Taking place on June 6 at the HAC, London, 2018 is the 34th anniversary of an event renowned throughout the industry for celebrating the pinnacle of professional achievement.

Speaking at the awards launch last November, former CIPR president Jason Mackenzie said, “Public Relations makes a remarkable contribution to UK plc. The Excellence Awards are a celebration of the outstanding work we deliver for clients, colleagues and the public.”

“Winning one of these puts you amongst the UK's very best. Nothing evidences your credentials to future clients and employers like an Excellence Award,” Mackenzie said.

The CIPR Excellence Awards shortlist encompasses both campaigns and ‘best ofs,’ as well awards that recognise achievements on both a team and an individual basis. This year announced via three videos, the CIPR judges will also put shortlisted entrants through their paces via a series of live interviews before the ceremony takes place on June 6.

Last year’s CIPR Excellence Awards winners saw communications agency Third City and Wellcome Trust's campaign #OutsmartEpidemics crowned winner in the ‘Best of use of digital’ and ‘Best STEM campaign’ categories, with its persuasive and gripping campaign leading to $350m in new funding granted by world decision makers.

A double win was also enjoyed by fraud prevention leader Cifas in the ‘Not-for-profit’ and ‘Integrated campaign’ categories. Its 'Data to go’ campaign aimed at spotlighting awareness of identity fraud. Cleverly communicated through its video, Cifas’ target audience was young people who are often unaware of just how easily they can become victims of identity fraud.
