LENS: NIKE

Nike has teamed up with football team, Grenfell Athletic FC to support the growth of the local men’s team, and work to establish a new women’s and youth team in the near future. This video campaign showcases the charity partnership in a captivating and visual way using animation and footage of the community.

Community worker Rupert Taylor formed Grenfell Athletic FC to provide support to those affected by the 2017 Grenfell tragedy created. The first team jersey was launched in November 2020 and was worn by household names and faces from across the sport, music and fashion industry.

This video campaign titled ‘Fabric of the Community’ was created by creative agency, Brothers & Sisters. It shows strands of green thread travelling through the town and gradually forming the Grenfell Athletic FC football flag.

The film was written by Andy Fowler, founder of Brothers & Sisters, and directed by Georgi Banks-Davis. Digital visual effects are used to create a sense of magic while also showing the local area and team members preparing for the game.

While the film and campaign were funded and supported by Nike, the brand places Grenfell Athletic FC at the front and centre of the video campaign. This works to demonstrate the organisation’s commitment to support local communities in an authentic way, while still promoting the Nike Grenfell team shirt, which will be sold through Kit Locker.

The video will run on television and social media across both Nike and Grenfell Athletic FC social channels.
