GOVERNMENT’S RUSSIA PR BAN IS WELCOMED BY CIPR
The government is banning UK PR firms from having Russia-based clients following CIPR advice
The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) welcomes the government’s explicit ban on Russia-based clients from UK PR firms.
The new legislation follows a consultation by the government with CIPR. The sanctions come under the 2018 Sanctions and Money Laundering Act, and specifically bar UK-based PR firms, along with accountants and management consultants, from providing professional services to Russia-based clients.
The legislation applies to prospective new clients, along with existing clients that agencies already have.
This law overrides any contracts agencies may have in place with Russian clients.
