DIGITAL HANDBOOK LAUNCHED TO HELP COMMS COUNTER MISINFORMATION

A new online resource has been launched to support public relations and communications professionals in combatting the spread of false information.

A new, digital handbook has been launched to provide practical tools, ethical guidelines and strategies to public relations and communications professionals, aimed at addressing the growing global challenges to information integrity.

'Tackling Mis/Disinformation - A Global Digital Handbook for Communicators' will cover topics such as media literacy, fact-checking, the ethical use of artificial intelligence in communications and the role of communicators in maintaining public trust. It aims to provide a framework for communicators to address the threats posed by misinformation and disinformation.

The initiative is a collaboration between the International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO), the Council of Europe, The Trust Project, the European Association of Communication Directors (EACD), Global Women in PR (GWPR), the European Public Relations Education and Research Association (EUPRERA) and the International Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC).

The handbook is described as a living document, with the initiative's partners encouraging ongoing feedback and contributions from communicators, media organisations and policymakers to shape future updates.
