LIME PARTNERS WITH JEWELLERY BRAND IN INITIATIVE TO BOLSTER SUSTAINABLE REPUTATION
Lime uses collaboration with LL, LLC jewellery company to promote a sustainable approach, amid backlash over disposal of end-of-life products.
Lime, an electric scooter company, collaborated with a sustainable jewellery brand to show how its product can be environmentally-friendly.
Lime’s mission as a company is, as stated on its website, “to build a future where transportation is shared, affordable, and carbon-free” since its product uses renewable energy and, according to the company, uses 75% less carbon than a car trip.
Recently, Lime has been facing international backlash around disposal of its end-of-life products. Speaking to BBC News, the Canal and River Trust said the number of Lime bikes being dumped in waterways across the UK "could be into the thousands", possibly causing a pollution risk according to the Environment Agency.
This emerged after Lime changed material providers, now working with Redwood Materials, in order to use more durable material for future bikes.
As part of its initiative, for this year's New York Fashion Week Lime partnered with Lia Lowenthal, founder of LL, LLC jewellery label, to transform scooter aluminium and reflectors into jewellery.
Carolyn Rosebrough, chief brand and communications officer at Lime, said the LL,LLC partnership was "a collaboration that speaks to our shared values of sustainability, circularity and community".
