BANK OF AMERICA BUYS UP DOMAIN NAMES IN POSSIBLE PRE-EMPTIVE WIKILEAKS MOVE

Bank of America has purchased hundreds of abusive domain names in what is being seen as a pre-emptive defence against damaging revelations from WikiLeaks.

According to Domain Name Wire, the US bank has been aggressively registering domain names including those consisting of directors’ names followed by "sucks" and "blows".

For example, it registered several domains for CEO Brian Moynihan: BrianMoynihanBlows.com, BrianMoynihanSucks.com, BrianTMoynihanBlows.com, and BrianTMoynihanSucks.com.  The wire report counted hundreds of such domain name registrations on 17 December alone.

Bank of America has apparently established a 'war room' to counter allegations set to emerge from the publication of thousands of internal documents by Wikileaks.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange this week told The Times he had enough data on a major US bank to force the resignation of its senior leadership. Although he has yet to reveal the identity of the bank, many online commentators claim the leaks relate to internal documents from Bank of America.
