AGENCIES' PREDICTIONS FOR THE YEAR IN DIGITAL MARKETING
Maybe, by the end of 2013, shoppers will enter a retail outlet, look up their item on an iPad stationed at the entrance, try it on using digital fitting rooms and pay for it with their mobiles or tablets.
The British Interactive Marketing Association (BIMA) has released its yearly predictions for the next 12 months from the UK’s leading digital agencies.
“We all want to know where the next game changer is coming from and who better to ask than the country’s award-winning agencies,” BIMA chair Justin Cooke says. “This video of top tips for 2013 shows why the UK digital industry remains the best in the world.”
Those in the video name technologies like augmented reality, social TV and touch-screen tablets as gaining wider traction in the coming year. They say that digital will become a stronger part of the in-store retail experience and that advertising will promote experiences, not products.
But Richard Coggin of ais London says that, with the rise of so many different platforms, the objective will be to use them intelligently by using simple ideas, engaging concepts and compelling stories. Storytelling still holds a place in an increasingly digital world.
