'THE SHIP THAT LAUNCHED A THOUSAND STORIES'
Rolls-Royce is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its UT offshore ship design in a global campaign with Dutch creative agency Nomads.
The UT design was first created in 1974 by Ulstein Trading and since its acquisition by Rolls-Royce, over 800 offshore vessels that specialise in drilling, storage and production have been built using the UT design.
Markus Keiper, executive vice president global marketing communications & CRM - Marine at Rolls-Royce says, “The UT is a proud part of our history. Not only has the vessel served our customer and our company for forty years, it has become an international example of outstanding design. Nomads has crafted an incredibly detailed content strategy to mark this achievement and highlighted the forward thinking philosophies that underpin Rolls-Royce in a way that’s authentic and truly engaging.”
Under the name, 'The Ship that Launched a Thousand Stories', Nomads have created a collection of ongoing videos for the online platform featuring interviews with designers, customers and captains of the UT vessel over the past 40 years.
One of the first videos released will feature the founder of the UT design, Sigmund Borgundvåg. Still working with Rolls-Royce, Borgundvåg takes the views on the journey of creating the UT and its continuing significance in the marine industry.
Alongside the videos, the online platform offers the marine community a space to share their own UT experiences by submitting stories and images.
Mats Frisk, managing director at Nomads Singapore says, “The interviews, accompanied by stunning visuals, give a rare glimpse into the real-life stories that have shared in the UT experience while also delving into the defining pillars of Rolls-Royce.We also hope the content inspires people to share their own story and create the next chapter for the world famous UT vessel.“
