EMPLOYER BRAND MANAGEMENT AWARDS LAUNCHED
Employer brand can be hard to define, but the results of a good employer brand are easy to see. The employer brand is the part of a brand strategy that relates to an organisation’s reputation as an employer, and thus is a vital aspect of brand management and a key concern for communicators.
A strong employer brand strategy will be reflected in the quality of staff, the amount of time they stay with a company and ability to attract new, skilled staff in a competitive market.
The inaugural 2016 Employer Brand Management Awards will recognise the best work by internal communicators, HR teams, corporate leaders and recruiters in developing, implementing and evaluating successful employer brand strategies.
The awards feature categories for the breadth of campaigns in this space from ‘Best brand ambassador programme’ to ‘Best digital campaign.’ The awards will recognise excellence in the communications of an employer brand as well as the way in which an employee value proposition aligns to the company’s values. Also honoured at the Employer Brand Management Awards will be the ‘CEO of the year’ and the award for ‘Best ongoing commitment to employer brand management.’
Employer brand management, according to Simon Barrow, the man who first coined the term and pioneered its expansion, requires a cohesive desire among business leaders to support an employer brand strategy. “My belief is you start employer brand management at the top. If senior management doesn’t want to get involved, walk away,” he says.
The awards will be judged by a panel of in-house communications experts with extensive experience in employer brand management. Entries are accepted from in-house teams, individuals or consultants.
The second annual Employer Brand Management Conference on 9 December, hosted by Communicate's sister title, Transform, will feature speakers from Maersk, IHG, Avon, United Utilities, the UK’s largest listed water company, and German software company SAP. Attendees will learn how to ensure that diversity is integrated into their employer brand strategy, how to communicate with a multinational work force, how to engage a remote workforce and will learn how to effectively measure and evaluate their employer brand strategy so as to prove its effectiveness.
Entries for the Employer Brand Management Awards are accepted until 22 December. Entries received by 25 November will receive a £100 discount.
