A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE ON COMMS

The annual BledCom conference takes place this weekend, 1-2 July 2016.

Set in the picturesque surroundings of Hotel Golf in Bled, Slovenia, BledCom will play host to numerous management and communications professionals.

Known for its famous lake with the 11th century Bled Castle situated in its centre, Bled is the perfect location for reflection on communications strategy, and anticipation for change in the coming year.

Taking place during what has been a poignant year for communications and PR specialists, BledCom 2016 will focus particularly on engagement, corporate social responsibility and social purpose.

Delegates from universities across the world are in attendance. From the University of Central Lancashire in the UK, to Udine University, Italy, to the University of Newcastle (Australia), and many the attendees of BledCom offer a global perspective on the contemporary challenges facing communications professionals.

Sessions include ‘Messages of menace: the recruitment propaganda of (so-called) Islamic State’, ‘Micro narratives as internal communication strategy for engaging people’, and ‘Towards a community of practice: engaging academics and practitioners for practice development’, led by Stephen Waddington, chief engagement officer at Ketchum.

Friday and Saturday sessions also begin with a yoga class to relax the mind to prepare delegates for two days of discussion centred on communications and management issues while taking in breath-taking surroundings.

Organised by the Centre for Marketing and Public Relations at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences, the weekend will be sure to inform minds of even the most experience professionals.
