Leading visual communication association, EVCOM, has today announced the release of its 2017 Clarion Awards shortlist, in partnership with creative experience agency, drp. Beyond the wealth of contemporary projects, the awards focus on CSR and sustainability brings together a range of fields, from education, health and welfare to diversity and equality. Yet in an age where visual communications cut through like never before, this year’s entries also offer a sobering glance at the modern impact of digital media.

“We’re once again astounded by the calibre of entries. CSR and sustainability are increasingly identified as a core consideration for corporates and we’re extremely proud to be able to highlight the great work that is being done in the sector,” says Jennifer Jenkins, CEO of EVCOM.

With entries coming from as many as 26 agencies, the EVCOM Clarion Awards, now in its 14th year, has long established a core understanding of the need for a considered and meticulous awards process. Marking this, a panel of experts from all corners of the industry made careful considerations in judging each of the 46 shortlisted projects. Themes such as refugee welfare, counter-terrorism procedure, mental health and gender inequality form the bulk of several entered works, making this year’s judging process no small task.  

The awards’ thoughtful categorisation places the likes of documentary, digital, events and social in different spheres, along with gold, silver, bronze and highly-commended on offer as the evening’s prizes. Last year’s winners saw creative agency, Brickwall, win gold for its ‘£1 Brexit Challenge,’ tasking the public to find a better investment for their £1 coin. Tapping into deeper sentiments, Ashfield Healthcare Communications equally took home gold for ‘A Vision for the Future: An AIDS-Free Generation,’ showcasing British healthcare’s response to the difficult medical challenges that AIDS produce.
