EMPLOYEE DISSATISFACTION IDENTIFIED AS THE PRIMARY IMPACT OF POOR CONNECTIVITY
Loss of connectivity within a business has a multitude of effects. Research from B-corp certified telecommunications and technology service provider, Zen Internet, shows that 45% of workers say the biggest impact of slow or unreliable internet connection is frustrated employees and colleagues.
Employee wellbeing and happiness at work is at the top of many corporate business strategies, particularly as they look to retain the best talent post-pandemic. The findings from Zen Internet act as a reminder to business leaders that the basics of good internet connectivity are among the foundational building blocks of high employee satisfaction.
Other major impacts of poor connectivity were found to be loss of business productivity for 38%, losing unsaved work for 29%, unhappy clients or customers for 26% and missed deadlines for 24%.
Zen Internet point to the benefits of leased lines which offer guaranteed service unlike average broadband connection. Steve Warburton, managing director at Zen Internet, says, “With so much hype around ‘fast full fibre’, which of course is accessible to an increasing number of businesses and can deliver mind-boggling speeds, the benefits of ethernet leased lines to small to medium sized businesses are getting overlooked.”
“Leased lines could be the difference between keeping employee satisfaction high and losing valuable employees due to frustration that internet connection is crushing their ability to work proficiently,” adds Warburton.
The research was conducted by Censuswide and surveyed 1,021 adults working from home in the UK.
