LENS: UNILEVER
Unilever worked with creative agency RanaVerse to create a series of films celebrating individuality and LGBTQ+ pride. The ‘United We Stand’ campaign provides a platform for people to share their lived experience and highlight Unilever’s commitment to supporting an inclusive society.
Amir and Aamir were among those featured as they spoke about their experience being the first south Asian gay couple to be married in Bradford. In another video, Martina talked about undergoing gender reassignment surgery in later life and finally being able to live as her authentic self.
Each of the four videos maintains a consistent style throughout, using authentic film footage. They work to provide a platform for individuals to share their story and position Unilever as an inclusive brand that listens and supports people from all spectrums of the LGBTQ+ community.
Unilever demonstrates its corporate responsibility to supporting community charities such as Switchboard LGBTQ+ helpline. It also helps to improve consumer understanding of Pride Month and what it means to the LGBTQ+ community. As a personal care brand, the campaign aligns with Unilever’s purpose as a human organisation encouraging mental and physical wellbeing.
The films directed by Jess Kohl were made in partnership with Simple, Closeup, Lynx and Superdrug. The campaign is supported with the hashtag #ItsYourStory and follows on from the previous ‘United We Stand’ campaign created Unilever and RanaVerse for Pride Month 2019.
