LINKEDIN REVEALS THREE COMMS ROLES AMONG THE UK’S FASTEST GROWING C-SUITE POSITIONS

LinkedIn has released new data findings to reveal the top ten fastest growing C-suite roles in the UK. Chief communications officer, chief growth officer and chief marketing officer all made the top ten leader board, highlighting a growing investment and reliance on effective comms to navigate the pandemic and drive business.

The research sought to identify the fastest growing C-suit job roles by analysing 45,000 hires in the UK as listed on LinkedIn over the past two years. Tunji Akintokun, senior director at LinkedIn Marketing Solutions UK & Ireland, says, “This list provides a unique insight into how business priorities are changing, and the C-suite roles needed most to help companies adapt to a new world of work.”

The data revealed the fastest growing C-suite role as chief human resources officer, with a growth of 56%. This is largely due to their role in helping CEOs to guide organisations through the pandemic, managing talent and adapting to furlough schemes.

Chief revenue officer followed in second place with an increase of 48% while the demand for chief people officers rose by 45%. Three of the top ten growing roles consisted of communications-based positions, with chief communications officer up 35%, as they helped to build corporate reputation, trust and communicate internally and externally to a variety of stakeholders during Covid-19.

Helping businesses to achieve their strategic objectives, was chief growth officers which saw a 33% increase in new hires. Chief marketing officer also saw a rise of 22%, as they helped to build brand awareness with customers and clients.

“As companies focus on delivering value to customers and clients, differentiating their brands and driving business growth, it’s positive to see chief marketing officers, chief growth officers and chief communications officers in high demand. This is testament to the highly strategic and increasingly impactful role they play in building brand awareness, safeguarding reputation, and creating demand to drive growth,” adds Akintokun.

LinkedIn also reported a 55% increase in the time spent by leaders taking LinkedIn Learning courses globally over the past twelve months, compared to previous years. Leaders across the world participated in 1.3m hours of learning courses on topics such as building executive presence, resilience, critical thinking and coaching, to help improve their essential soft skills.
