NEW CLINIC LAUNCHED TO HELP DENTISTS COMMUNICATE
Bupa Dental Care has launched an innovative new training clinic to help its employees better their patient communications. The comms clinic has been designed to help the clinicians build better relationships with their patients and colleagues, which will ultimately improve productivity and efficiency.
Dentists traditionally have very little training when it comes to communications or patient relationship management, particularly in undergraduate curriculums. However, clear and effective communication is key to ensuring patients and colleagues fully understand treatment options and medical advice.
“We know that a breakdown in communications is the top reason for complaints in dental practices and a huge source of stress for clinicians,” says Susie Lloyd, head of clinical policy and learning at Bupa Dental Care.
With over 28 years of experience in the dental industry, Dr Barry Oulton and his Confident Dentist Academy are working to highlight the importance of effective communications in the profession. “We can’t underestimate the important of good communication in our industry and the power we have as dentists to influence better health outcomes for our patients,” says Oulton
Exclusive content has been designed to educate clinicians on the fundamentals of good communication through a series of video lectures providing easy to access information. Among the topics covered are meaningful communications, neuro-linguistic programming, building rapport and mindset, enabling attendees to gain skills they can implement immediately.
The Communications Clinic demonstrates Bupa’s commitment to supporting its employees throughout their career. The training will also better the organisation’s internal communications, as clinicians will build better working relationships in an open environment.
Gabriela Pueyo, general manager at Bupa Dental Care, says, “The last year has been really challenging for our industry and we know that re-building trust and long-term relationships with our patients is more important than ever. The launch of the Communications Clinic is an example of the investment we’re making to help our clinicians feel valued, supported and benefit from being part of the Bupa family.”
