AMEC IN ASIA

Once dismissed as merely the least interesting outcome of the communication and evaluation process, measurement is now held as a key indicator of industry health. Industry body, the International Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC), has long been a champion for the merits of measurement in a communications environment. Indeed, so important ingrained is AMEC's industry standard approach that 2017 will see it hold an awards event in Asia for the first time.

With 86 members spread over 150 countries, AMEC is a global media intelligence and insights professional body and the largest in the world. Its practice allows communication efforts at both agency and in-house level to be tracked and monitored; objectively evaluating communications activity highlights best practice for the future.

The AMEC Global Summit on Measurement, which is to be held in Bangkok on 17 and 18 May, will also involve taught sessions to share best practice in PR to communications and PR professionals in South East Asia.

The event has the backing of the UK-based PRCA and ICCO, as well as other PR associations based in Australia, New Zealand, India, Indonesia and Malaysia. The Asia-Pacific branch of International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) is also supporting AMEC in its new venture.

Barry Leggetter, CEO of AMEC, says, “We are deliberately taking the Global Summit to Asia for the first time as the cornerstone of our education programme in 2017. The international quality of our speakers will be a major factor in making the Global Summit a ‘must attend’ event for PR and communications professionals in South East Asia.”

For AMEC, taking its flagship awards event to Asia allows its international outlook to be reflected in an international reach. The Global Summit on Measurement is sponsored by Asia-Pacific based media intelligence company, Isentia.

Early bird registration discount is available through the summit website.
