PRCA REASSURES MEMBERS ON ITS FINANCIAL HEALTH

Following the Chartered Institute of Public Relations’ shock announcement last week of a £700,000 deficit in its finances, the Public Relations Consultants Association has posted an announcement on its website.

The statement tells members that the PRCA “has produced a surplus in each of the previous four years and confidently expects to produce an operating surplus for 2009 too”.

Francis Ingham, the PRCA’s director general goes on to say “Income from business partners, training and events, has increased over the last two years. As a result of strong performance in all these areas, turnover is up by around 50% compared with two years ago.” Ingham has already denied that the two associations have been in talks to merge. The two societies have, however, announced plans for greater collaboration.

The CIPR was a sponsor at last week’s PRCA awards, where it gave away a trophy to the winner in the Not-For-Profit category.
