A CHANGE IN THE ENGINE ROOM

Engine, the UK’s largest privately owned communications group, has announced a restructuring of its boards.

Engine has created an Engine UK board and an Engine Group board as part of their continuing efforts to expand into international operation.

This news follows several recent developments at Engine. HIG Capital announced an investment of £62.5 million in Engine to support potential acquisitions in China, the USA, South America and Europe, and Engine also acquired the New York-based marketing agency Deep Focus at the end of October.

Moreover in September, following the purchase of the public relations business Penrose, Engine announced the formation of MHP Communications, integrating Penrose with their other PR companies Mandate and Hogarth (Communicate magazine, September 2010).

Peter Scott, the new Engine chairman and joint chief executive, will fulfil the position of CEO for the Engine Group board as Debbie Klein is promoted to CEO of Engine UK. Engine has also appointed David Liu as chairman of Engine in Asia. Peter Scott said of Liu’s appointment, “David shares our ambition to take the Engine model of genuinely integrated, multi-disciplinary excellence and build Engine in Asia. We are becoming a truly global business.”
