Tangerine PR was the big winner at this year’s CIPR Excellence awards, winning the evening’s blue-riband prize for Outstanding Public Relations Consultancy of the Year.

The Manchester-based firm held off strong competition from Bite Communications, Octopus Group, Brand2Life, Frank and Unity to take the top prize of the night.

Elsewhere, St John Ambulance and GolinHarris were double winners, scooping the prizes for the best Not-for-Profit Campaign and the judges' special award for Measurement and Evaluation.

The CIPR Excellence Awards recognise and reward best practice in public relations throughout the UK and acknowledge personal and team achievement at the highest professional level.

MHP Health Mandate claimed two awards including Corporate and Business Communications for ‘Commissioning in the new world’ as well as the Healthcare Campaign, alongside the Rarer Cancers Foundation for ‘Securing a Cancer Drugs Fund.

Meanwhile, Siren won the Media Relations and Broadcast campaigns award for ‘Royal Caribbean Cruises: Launching new ship Celebrity Eclipse with a repatriation mission.’

“These awards are the most demanding in the industry and set the benchmark for best practice,” said CIPR CEO Jane Wilson. “Competition was as fierce as ever, producing an exceptional quality of entries: outstanding, considering the economic challenges of last year. The public relations world has proved not just that it is resilient but that even when budgets are tight, creativity and a focus on return on investment come to the fore.”
