STRATEGIC REPORTING AWARDS ANNOUNCED AT CONFERENCE

FutureValue’s seventh annual Strategic Reporting Index Accolades were announced today at Communicate magazine’s ‘Best Practice: Corporate Reporting’ conference.

The Index conducts examinations of the report narratives of listed companies and scores them according to a framework of seven factors. The shortlist featured heavyweights in the banking, extractives, FMCG, pharmaceutical and technology industries, among others.

Winner of the Best Risk category, TUI Travel's director of group audit services Mark Fensome, says of the changes in narrative reporting, "The board recognise that the dynamic and everchanging risk landscapes requires close and active management and, as a result, they demand the transparency of risks and accountability of management at every level of the business."

The awards were announced during Communicate’s Corporate Reporting conference which featured a half-day of presentations and perspectives on the future of reporting. Many pointed to integrated reporting and narrative as the way forward, others pointed to the legislative changes that sparked the need for the aforementioned system. Overall, strategic thought and narrative direction were seemingly the consensus at the conference.
