WDC GETS A WHALE OF A BIRTHDAY TREAT WITH REBRAND
It’s a whale of a tale, oh yes, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society is spouting a new identity, complete with shortened name.
The Conran Design Group-designed campaign will use a graphic representation of a whale’s tail to rebrand the society as Whale and Dolphin Conservation just in time for its 25th birthday. The CDG says the whale tail design will enable the WDC to effectively communicate its message and act as a universally recognised image.
The rebrand is one of many undertaken this year by charities in the attempt to drive up donations and awareness. The WDC says that its refreshed identity will make its social media and marketing campaigns more recognisable and attract new supporters to the organisation.
In a post about the rebrand the WDC says, “In 2012 we turned 25 years old. The world has changed in that time and so has the organisation. To face the challenges of today, we need a brand that reflects who we are and which speaks to audiences globally; decision makers and people like you who care deeply about whales and dolphins.”
In August and September, Cancer Research UK, Samaritans, The Donkey Sanctuary and Prostate Cancer UK, among others, all rebranded with re-imagined logos and fresh marketing campaigns.
