EVENT WELCOMES GOLDEN AGE FOR THE CREATIVE INDUSTRIES

The Creative UK event, hosted by Enders Analysis and held at the BT Centre, was held in celebration of a recent report revealing the strength of Britain’s creative and digital industries. The report, written by Ender’s Analysis and Bain & Company, reaffirms the creative industries as an invaluable contributor to the UK economy.

Central to the report’s findings is the recognition that the creative industry is at the centre of digital transformation in the UK. Digital technology is changing the way many creative-sector companies produce and distribute products, and consumers are embracing this technology. It is clear from the Enders Analysis report that digital and creative industries can supplement each other in their current growth.

The report also shows that entrepreneurship in the creative industries – music, film, television, advertising, the arts, book and newspaper publishing – has been a major contributor to a strong rate of business creation since 2010, this is largely attributed to a solid trend in self-employment.

Other findings include; the UK’s strong investment in ecommerce, dominant role in the exportation of television formats, and its innovative approach to digital advertising in comparison to the US and other leading nations. Commercial skills are revealed to be an area still in need of improvement.

Earlier this year another report analysing the creative industries was released by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, with similarly positive results. The department published statistics that indicated a growth of 10% in 2012, outperforming all other sectors. However, the Reed Salary Guide and Market Insight, 2014, for the marketing and creative sector, had a less rosy outlook; infographics revealed that 43% of employees reported being worried about losing talent and 39% of respondents noticed a skills gap within their organisation.

The Creative UK Event was held on March 18, 2014, sponsors of the event included BT, Enders Analysis, Bain & Company, Powerscourt and Shine Group.
