CORPORATE TRAINING PROGRAMMES

With e-learning taking off in a big way there are more staff training options than ever before. An event hosted by The Writer discussed the potential benefits of face-to-face training programmes.

Speakers at the event, held at the St Brides Foundation, included training and learning and development leaders with experience at prestigious companies; Emirates, the BBC and Thames Water. The session sought to define positive training methods through group discussion and expert insight.

The panel speakers emphasised the importance of creative, collaborative and inspiring training programmes. As well as talking about effective training methods the panel also discussed the difficulty training providers can have in proving their worth. Teresa Ewington, in particular, dismissed ROI as a means of measuring successful L&D programmes. She said that companies sometimes have unrealistic expectations from training providers, expecting instant and visible results.

The Writer is a writing and brand language consultancy that offers corporate writing courses and training programmes.
