INDIAN ENERGY COMPANY REVEALS BIG CSR PAY-OFF

The Indian government has announced that more than 27 lakh (hundred thousand) people who live around atomic power plants have benefitted from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) and its CSR initiatives over the past three years.

The NPCIL’s various CSR projects have provided communities with improved opportunities of livelihood, availability of healthcare, drinking water, and education including skill development.

Minister of State for PMO, Jitendra Singh, says the schemes under CSR are designed and implemented based on the needs of the surrounding population and comprise infrastructure development, skill development of the people, and support in education and health.

The NPCIL is under the administrative control of the Department of Atomic Energy and is answerable to mandatory CSR rules and regulations prescribed by the Indian government. India was the first country to make CSR spending compulsory under the Indian Companies Act 2013.
