COMMONWEALTH GAMES INSPIRES CSR OPPORTUNITIES
The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games provides a sponsorship opportunity for BP, an oil and gas company with sources in the North Sea. BP has been working in Scotland for 50 years and continues to invest in new projects.
BP is concerned with renewable supplies, and it supports infrastructure and technological advances that allow for greater recovery, enabling oil and gas fields to keep wielding for years to come.
As part of its Commonwealth partnership BP is providing fuel for the Games vehicles. In addition, BP and a host of charity partners have launched the Glasgow 2014 Young Leaders Programme. The mentoring scheme helps young people develop skills that will make them more employable.
Throughout the project the young people will be mentored by BP employees and will be supported by athlete mentors from the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, another Games partner. The participants will take part in a number of projects in their local communities. They will be representing the BP brand.
The BP Young Leaders Programme began in September 2013 and will conclude in March 2015.
