THE VALUE OF PEOPLE

Businesses and brands are shaped and defined by their people, but when it comes to financial value, staff are often accounted for as either expenses on income statements or as liabilities on balance sheets. Employees that truly represent and embody a brand should be viewed as its greatest assets, and this should be conveyed to company stakeholders.

The Corporate Reporting and Human Capital conference will demonstrate how to effectively measure, and communicate, human capital through high standards of corporate reporting. Storytelling and narrative in corporate reporting are key when engaging investors and stakeholders with a business and its people.

Speakers at the half-day event include Anthony Hesketh, senior lecturer at the University of Lancaster and Simon Constance, director of HR advisory at EY, who will talk about the possibility of applying a common set of metrics to the measurement of human capital. Stephen Golding, director of internal communication at Tullow Oil, will speak about the different ways that companies can structure their reporting and how their people come into that. Peter Cheese, CEO at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, will join Golding in this discussion. For the programme and a full list of speakers, click here.

Andrew Thomas, publishing editor at Cravenhill Publishing, says, “This conference is about how companies can put people at the heart of their annual report. Organisations often fail to recognise or communicate the value of their employees as assets. This conference will look at effective methods for measuring talent and will explore how that value can be shared with investors and stakeholders.”

The conference will take place in London on 15 May 2015. For more information or to book your place on The Corporate Reporting and Human Capital conference, please visit the website.
